From Ambleside take Rydal Road and turn left when you see the Rydal Farm on your right. Walk onto Peppermint Coppice and head onto the Scandale Beck path towards the High Sweden Bridge. (The path beyond the bridge leads up to Scandale and eventually out on to Red Screes or Dove Crag but these are strenuous walks.)
